Raid Event Guide

MARVEL: War of Heroes - Raid Event Guide

UPDATE 08/19/2013:  Maximum Carnage Raid

The Raid Guide has been updated for the first time!  Thank you all for your support!  There are two big changes that I made to the guide.  They are:
  • RDS Bar farming by holding onto unclaimed rewards has been eliminated.  The game developers have changed the scoring method.  Now your raid rating increases instantly after you defeat a boss regardless if you claim the reward or not.  I have removed this technique from Item #3 of the guide.
  • It looks like Huge Raid Boss battles are here to stay.  I have addressed this in Item #4 of the guide.

Raid Event Guide

This guide is written under the following player assumptions:
  • You are willing to share your Raid Deck with others.
  • You are willing to trade your cards and/or pp for Raider cards.
  • You are willing to use your ppp/pp if needed to make rank.
You can still use this guide to succeed in Raid events, but if you are not willing to do the above it will not be as easy for you.

I will break up the guide into the five factors that I believe are most important to successful raiding. The five factors are:
  1. Building your Raid Deck
  2. Sharing a Raid Deck with others.
  3. Farming RDS bars.
  4. Attacking the correct bosses.
  5. Paying attention to rankings.

1. Building your Raid Deck:

Raider cards can be difficult to attain.  This is because they are mostly only attainable in card packs (ultimate card packs and the special raider card packs).  However, there are some low end raider cards available as Shield Enforcement Training rewards (Rare & SR base rewards).  There are also raider cards available in the shard exchanges once the raid begins.

Here is a quick example of how I start to prepare my Raid Deck after SET, before the raid, and into the beginning of the raid:

Depending on your personal and alliance rank (and how many accounts you play) you can easily get 4-6 SR base reward cards.  The first thing I do after SET is properly fuse and boost my SR base reward cards.  This gives me 2-3 SSR+ Raiders with a 350% bonus and on their alignment specific day they are given an additional 50% boost.  The Rare base SET reward cards are also raider cards, but they only give a 250% boost when fused.  If you don't plan on acquiring additional raiders then by all means use them, but I always use mine as boosters if I get them.

The next chance you have at getting raider cards is the packs that you can purchase a few days before the raid starts.  I know a lot of people who always buy these packs and some are successful and some are not.  I purchased 2 rounds of the pre-raid packs this past raid and only pulled one Rare raider card!  Like it or not though, this is a good chance to get some of the higher end raid cards that you will need to compete for the high level ranks.  The day before the raid starts raider cards also become available in all packs, i.e. Ultimate Card Packs.  I recommend saving all your UCP tickets you receive during the previous month and using them now.  I have only pulled Rare base raiders with UCP, but I know people who pulled SR base and SSR base raiders multiple times!

Odds are at this time that you have pulled a base raider card (or none!) and need more for fusion or to complete your raid deck.  Now is the time to start trading your cards and/or pp for raider cards with other players.  Make sure you have at least 5 properly fused raider cards in your deck and you will be ready for raiding!

I should also mention that as you start fighting bosses and collecting rewards that you will have the opportunity to pull additional raiders in the shard exchanges.  Pulling raiders in red shards is rare, but the orange shards always contain decent raiders for a low to mid level raid deck.  If you don't plan on using these raider cards give them away to alliance members or trade them.

2. Sharing a Raid Deck with others:

As I said above, raider cards can be difficult to attain.  Unless you are comfortable with a low level raid deck, or paying a lot of money and/or pp for your raider cards, you will want to team up with friends and share raider cards with each other.  I suggest using fellow alliance members and grouping up into teams of 4-6 members.

If you use the methods above as a team, it will be much easier to put together a mid to high-end raid deck.  Combine all your strongest raiders into one deck and pass it around throughout the day with the members of your group.  In my opinion this is the most important factor of successful raiding!!!

I also keep my own personal low-end raid deck on me so that I can participate even when I do not have my groups higher-end raid deck.

3. Farming RDS bars:

Having a massive store of RDS bars is necessary if you want to compete for SSR base prizes without using a lot of ppp/pp.  There are several ways to collect (farm) RDS bars. They are as followed:
  • Daily Log in bonus.
  • Rewards for achieving certain set raid points.
  • Shard Exchanges.
  • Receiving the "Last Strike" bonus when fighting a boss.
The easiest way to farm RDS bars is by repetitively attacking bosses, using a single RDS attack, to receive the "Last Strike" bonus of 2 bars.  You want to do this as often as possible.  Keep track of your "Villain List" and hit every boss that you know you can take down with a single RDS attack.

4. Attacking the correct bosses:

This is where a lot of people go wrong with raids.  They waste their precious RDS bars and ppp/pp attacking the wrong bosses.  There are only 3 types of bosses you should attack and they are as followed:
  • Low level bosses that you can defeat with a single RDS attack.
  • Enraged bosses
  • Huge bosses
You never want to attack any bosses that are not enraged unless you can take them down with a single RDS attack.  Using more than one RDS is just a waste ammunition.  Be patient and wait for the enraged bosses to appear in the second half of event.  When you summon an enraged boss hit him with all you got until he is down.  Only share if you run out of RDS and ppp/pp.  You will earn millions of raid points doing this.

Huge bosses appear during the last few days of the first and second halves of the raid.  These special bosses are gigantic and usually require multiple players sharing attacks to take down.   The huge bosses are worth 3 times the raid rating (same as enraged), but because they are so gigantic their "Star Agent" bonuses are insanely huge.  If you get the chance to attack one of these bosses do it multiple times until it's defeated or you run out of RDS Bars and/or ppp/pp.  Attacking these bosses during the first half of the raid will give you a nice boost in raid ranking and can qualify you to earn a decent Interim reward.

5. Paying attention to rankings:

The last factor in successful raiding is easy.  Just pay attention to your rank.  If you are close to attaining or losing rank then you need to either accept defeat or use some ppp/pp to attack enraged bosses until you make rank.  Pay special attention the last couple of hours because the ranking can change very dramatically.  I was about 100 places ahead of making rank the last raid 4 hours before the raid deadline.  During the last hour I noticed that I slipped below rank by about 100 places.  I used up about 20 pp on enraged bosses to get my rank back, but I failed.  I ended up ranking 4 places too high!  I will never make that mistake again!

  1. I can farm up to 1000 bars. You should put that in there.

  2. Hi Rex,
For Maximum Carnage, I'm already reached level 45 on assignment 2.

I haven't claim my reward yet, is it normal? I hard to farm RDS if boss level above 20.

    Any comment for me? Thanks.

    Warmest Regards,
    Dragon

  3. The same thing has happened to me and everyone else. It looks like the developers eliminated the ability to farm massive amounts of RDS bars. I will update my guide when I have a chance. ~ Rex

  4. Hi Rex,
Ya, believe they raised the standards.

For present Raid event, I have few doubts:
    1. If the raid boss cannot be beaten, should I aim to destroy "Main" or "Body parts"?
    2. Any differences of rewards given in between "Main" and " Body parts"?
    3. I haven't exchange my ISO shards yet. Should I exchange now or accumulate. Which ISO shard (Orange or Red) should be exchange first?
    4. For last event, I observed a team member (Level around 30+) don't has any valors after Day 6 or 7. But suddenly, he scored more than 5000000 valors after Day 7. It is ready cool. Can I know what is technic?

    Thanks for sharing and comment.

    Warmest Regards,
    Dragon

  5. Hi Rex,
Correction on No. 3 "ISO-8 shards".

    Thanks.

  6. Hi Dragon

    1. I try to attack a raid boss until all of the "parts" are destroyed. Then if I don't have enough RDS to take finish him off I will share him. Doing this ensures that I at least get some iso-8 shards.

    2. When you only destroy "parts" of a raid boss you get a small amount of iso-8 shards. If you attack and defeat the "main" or entire boss you get the full amount of iso-9 shards and the raid rating points for your raid score.

    3. Exchange all of your shards as you receive them. I exchange red and purple shards in bulk and orange shards individually. I exchange the orange individually because if I pull the top Raider Card I want to move on to the next orange processor which has a stronger Raider Card that I can pull.

    4. It sounds like your team member saved up all of his RDS bars and then attacked Enraged Bosses on day 7. Enraged bosses show up during the second half of the raid and give out 3 times the raid points when defeated. You can easily accumulate millions of raid points within minutes by attacking Enraged Bosses. This is also true with the new Giant Raid Bosses.

I hope this information has helped! ~ Rex

  7. Hi Rex,
Ya, really help me a lot. Thanks again.

I already exchanged Red ISO-8 shards and got 1 raider card Iron man. But for Orange ISO-8 shards, I still not changed yet.

The reason is, I would like to accumulate 1000 shards in order to move to 2nd processor directly. Don't know this move will workable?
    **Presently, only have 200 shards.

Presently, I spent 12 RDS to beat Boss level 55.
The Boss level already up to 75 on Assignment 4-2. With refer to updating of your article, I will claim all rewards. Is it possible the developer will use back old version for next event?

My personal ranking right now is 71000++ (Last event still can maintained in 65000, looks likes more gamers participated in this event.)

During mission, are you let the Not Enraged bosses flee automatically? And aim to attack Enraged bosses/ Hugh boss only?

Thanks for updating of article. Thanks for support.

    Warmest Regards

  8. Hi Dragon

I recommend that you exchange your orange shards immediately. You have a shot at pulling the top raider card from the processor before emptying it, and you want to have that raider card as soon as possible because it will help you achieve a higher raid score.

I also wouldn't use 12 RDS to take down a boss. Use up to the 6 free RDS bars you earn over time. Then ask for support to finish the boss. Save your RDS bars for enraged bosses when they appear during the second half.

I doubt that Mobage will change back to the old reward claim system next raid.

Once enraged bosses appear during the second half I let all non-enraged bosses flee and only attack the enraged.

Hope this information is helpful to you Dragon. ~ Rex

  9. Hi Rex,
    Sorry for late reply. ^^
Thanks for reminder, I have exchanged individually after read your comment. Presently, I already switched to Processor 2 (39/90) and just got my 2nd Spider girl.

Yes, I wait for RDS bars fully charged (Or at least 5 RDS bars charged), before attack on Enraged Boss. So, I would like to correct I use stored 6 RDS bars + charged 6 RDS bars to beat Level 55.

But right now, due to weak on Raider cards, I have consumed 15 stored RDS bars + (6 charged RDS bars) to beat Level 95 Enraged Boss. Now I just have balance around 240 stored RDS bars. Total raid points is about 300000. Still far away to achieve 1000000.

Now I have doubt whether to concentrate to attack on Enraged Boss or Hugh Boss with limited resources.

And also, I'm listen to your advice. To beat Enraged bosses only.

Really appreciated your reply, thanks Rex.

    Best Regards,
    Dragon

  10. Dragon, It's very difficult to rank well in raids with the lower tier raider cards, but it's not impossible. Use what you have learned this event and apply these techniques to next months raid. I strongly suggest that you share raider cards with some trusted teammates or alliance members next time as well. ~ Rex

  11. Hi Rex,
I have tried to link up few active members with using Rally. But they never respond. LOL

I would like to share to you that the zone time at my place is 12 hours advance than Marvel WOH official time.
Example: Marvel WOH time 6am, is 6pm for my place. 
So battle time may varied with my alliances.

So I have created another account, and I shared raider cards with new account for better resource control and participate on events.
**New account gained 800000 raid points, hope can retain within 50000 rank.

On my first account, I proper boosted raider cards. The cards are Iron man+(500%), Jolt+ (250%), Spider girl+(500%), Hercules(200%), Zeus(170%), Doctor Strange(350%).
I used suggest attack deck, so 4 raid cards with combination 1600% and 1 UR+ are formed. These cards help me to achieve target 1.5 million raid points (Rank around 27000~30000).

There has a funny thing last night, After met my target, I decided to use the balance 60 RDS bars and 5 PPP to attack Hugh boss Level 12000 (Estimated raid point 285000 gained), but the Hugh boss is not beaten. So I lost all my resources without a point.
Note: **During attacking, Hugh boss's HP and parts are full. After attacked (about 5 min), discovered time left only 5 minutes and only have 31 agents participated.
**Supposed have 60 minutes to attack Hugh boss.

Anyway, the events are about ending in few hours. Hope I can get better rewards. And good luck to you too.

I wish to add you as team member, hope you can adding me. But I would like to send you my ID privately if permission granted.  Thanks.

    Warmest Regards,
    Dragon
